Hovenia dulcis is the dried mature plant of Hovenia dulcis. Hovenia dulcis contains flavonoid active ingredients such as apigenin, myricetin, quercetin, and hydrogen myricetin. Hovenia dulcis grows in sunny ditches, roadsides or valleys. Its distribution is wide, from the Yellow River and Yangtze River basins to Guangdong in the south, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Tibet, and Japan in the west.
Hovenia dulcis, the oriental raisin tree, is a hardy tree found from Asia, over Eastern China and Korea to the Himalayas (up to
altitudes of 2,000 m), growing preferably in a sunny position on moist sandy or loamy soils. The tree has been introduced as an ornamental tree to several countries, and the fruit is also edible.
